DECEMBER 2017 Match Setup

 

Stage 1 –

Rifle: Loaded with 10 rounds staged on Table #1 with action closed and bolt on an empty chamber.
Pistols: Loaded with 5 rounds each; holstered with hammer down on an empty chamber.
Shotgun: Staged open and empty on Table #1 with 4+ rounds on person.
Scenario:  It is a cold winter afternoon, you have brought the cattle down from the summer range and they have settled in at the lower place.  You are working on repairing some of your leather in the bunkhouse when you hear the howling of wolves harassing the herd nearby.  You grab your guns, jump on your horse and ride out to protect the herd.

Shooter stands in hula-hoop ring straddling stick horse when ready ride to table one and dismount.

Shooter signifies ready by saying the line:

“Get away from my herd!”

Rifle: At the beep, retrieve rifle and engage the rifle targets in a double tap Inside/Outside Sweep from either direction.  (Ex: R3, R3; R2, R2; R4, R4; R1, R1; R5, R5.  Shooter must alternate sides.  Open and empty rifle is placed on the table.  Move to rock.
Pistols: Draw pistols in accordance with your category and engage the pistol targets in a double tap Inside/Outside sweep from either direction. Shooter must alternate sides.  Holster empty pistols and move to the table #1.
Shotgun: Retrieve shotgun and knock down the 4 shotgun targets in any order.
Take open & Empty shotgun, retrieve rifle and proceed to the unloading table.

Stage 2 –

Shotgun: Staged open and empty on Table #1 with 4+ rounds on person.
Rifle: Loaded with 10 rounds with action closed & bolt on an empty chamber placed on Table #1.
Pistols: Loaded with 5 rounds each, holstered with hammer resting on an empty chamber.
Scenario:  The leader of the wolf pack and a few surviving wolves have followed you back to the ranch house. You have just put Old Paint in the corral when the pack leader springs from behind the stable and leads a charge at you.
Shooter stands behind Table # 1 with Shotgun in two hands.
Shooter signifies ready by saying the line:

“You won’t get me.”

Shotgun: At the beep, shooter knocks down the front two shotgun targets and then the two rear targets. Place the open & empty shotgun on the table.
Rifle: Retrieve the rifle and engage the rifle targets in a 1 – 2 – 4 – 2 – 1 sweep from either direction. Rifle is placed on the table with action open. Move to the rock.
Pistols: Draws pistols in accordance with your category and engage the pistol targets in a 1 – 2 – 4 – 2 – 1 sweep from either direction. Holster empty pistols.
Retrieve open and empty shotgun and rifle, proceed to the unloading table.

 Stage 3 –

Pistols: Loaded with 5 rounds each, holstered with the hammer resting on an empty chamber.
Rifle: Loaded with 10 rounds with action closed and bolt on an empty chamber staged on the horse.
Shotgun: Placed on Table #1 with action open and empty with 4+ rounds on person.
Scenario:  It’s Saturday night and you and the boys of the Lazy W have ridden into town to do a little celebrating. You are in your favorite watering hole sharing the story about the wolf attack when one of the patrons of the bar calls you a bald faced liar. You take offense to that.
Shooter stands behind the rock with strong hand resting on gunbutt .
Shooter signifies ready by saying the line:

“Take that back or draw.”

Pistols: At the beep, draw pistols in accordance with your category and engage pistol targets in a Double Tap Sweep from either direction. Holster empty pistols. Move to Table #1.
Rifle: Retrieve rifle and engage rifle targets in a Double Tap Sweep from either direction. Place open and empty rifle on Table #1.
Shotgun: Retrieve shotgun and knock down the shotgun targets in any order.
Take open & Empty shotgun, retrieve rifle and proceed to the unloading table.

Stage 4 –

Shotgun: Staged open and empty on the table #3 with 4+ rounds on person.
Rifle: Loaded with 10 rounds with action closed and bolt on an empty chamber staged Table #2.
Pistols: Loaded with 5 rounds each; holstered with hammer down on an empty chamber.
Scenario:  Fortunately for you, no harm was done on Saturday night but now it is Sunday morning and you are nursing a whopper of a headache when Cookie hollers for your help. A flock of buzzards are circling the chicken coop and trying to make off with one or more of the chickens.
Shooter is behind Table #3 with both hands holding your head.
Shooter signifies ready by saying the line:

“Leave my Sunday dinner alone.”

Shotgun: At the beep, retrieve shotgun and knock down the 2 shotgun targets on the right. Move to Table #1; knock down the 2 shotgun targets on the left. Place open & empty shotgun on table. Move to Table #2.
Rifle: Retrieve rifle and engage rifle targets in a 2 separate sweeps on the five rifle targets from the same direction. Place open and empty rifle on Table #1.
Pistols: Draw pistols in accordance with your category and engage the five pistol targets in 2 separate sweeps from the same direction. Holster empty pistols.
Retrieve open and empty shotgun and rifle and proceed to the unloading table.

 Stage 5 –

Rifle: Loaded with 10 rounds held in 2 hands with action closed and bolt on an empty chamber.
Pistols: Loaded with 5 rounds each; holstered with hammer down on an empty chamber.
Shotgun: Staged open and empty on Table #3 with 4 + rounds on person.
Scenario: Cookie is mad at you since the buzzards kilt all the chickens and flew off with their bounty. You decide that to get into his good graces, you will ride out to the high range and hunt an antelope or maybe a buffalo.
Shooter starts standing behind Table #2 with rifle in 2 hands.

Shooter signifies ready by saying the line:

“Buffalo steaks sound right good!”

Rifle: At the beep, shooter engages the rifle targets in a Lawrence Welk Sweep on R1, R2, R4 & R5 from either direction. DO NOT ENGAGE R3. Place open and empty rifle on table #2.
Pistols: Draw pistols in accordance with your category and engage the pistol targets in a Lawrence Welk Sweep on P1, P2, P4, & P5. DO NOT ENGAGE P3. Holster empty pistols. Move to Table #3.
Shotgun: Retrieve shotgun and knock down 2 shotgun targets on right. Move to table #1 and knock down 2 shotgun targets on the left.
Take open and empty shotgun, retrieve rifle and proceed to the unloading table.

Stage 6 – 

Pistols: Loaded with 5 rounds each, holstered with hammer resting on an empty chamber.
Rifle: Loaded with 10 rounds, staged on Table #2 with action closed and bolt on an empty chamber.
Shotgun: Staged open and empty on table #1 with 4+ rounds on person.
Scenario:  It is 23 December, the cowhands have put up a Christmas tree outside the bunkhouse and all have pitched in to decorate it. Under the tree are little gifts that will be exchanged. You are in your bunk when you hear a clatter in the yard. You spring from your bunk to see what is the matter.
Shooter stands behind Table #2 with hands at their sides.

Shooter signifies ready by saying the line:

“Leave it be, you Grinches!”

Pistols: At the beep, draw pistols in accordance with your category and engage the pistol targets in a continuous sweep from the either direction starting on P3. (Ex. P3, P4, P5, P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, P1, P2) Holster empty pistols.
Rifle: Retrieve rifle and engage the rifle targets in a continuous sweep from either direction starting on R3 (ex. R3, R4,R5, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R1, R2) Place open and empty rifle on the table. Move to Table #1.
Shotgun: Retrieve shotgun and knock down 2 shotgun targets on left. Move to Table #3 and knockdown the 2 shotgun targets on the right.
Take open and empty shotgun, retrieve rifle and proceed to the unloading table.
